Sequoia Communications Named 2007 AeA High Technology Award Finalist

RF semiconductor company selected as one of four semiconductor category finalists based on innovative Full Spectra architecture and SEQ7400 RF transceiver

San Diego – September 20, 2007 – Sequoia Communications, the RF semiconductor company setting new benchmarks in multi-mode design and integration, today announced that it has been chosen as one of four finalists in the Semiconductor, Industrial and Analytical Instrumentation category in the 14th Annual AeA High Tech Awards. Finalists were selected based on criteria such as technological breakthroughs, superior products and services, and business and technological obstacles faced and conquered.

Winners of the 14th Annual AeA High Tech Awards will be announced at an event held on October 19, 2007, at the Hilton Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif., from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. PDT.

“We are honored to be named a finalist for this prestigious award,” said Dave Shepard, chief executive officer at Sequoia Communications. “We’ve made major strides in the multi-mode RF transceiver market with the introduction of the SEQ7400 in May, and we appreciate that AeA has chosen to publicly acknowledge our company’s breakthrough technology and industry leadership.”

To qualify for the 14th Annual AeA High Tech Awards, companies were required to substantiate technological breakthroughs from the past year, quantify the success of their products and provide proof of technological differentiation with respect to their competitors. Sequoia Communications was named a finalist because it offers the industry’s first single-chip, polar transmit, seven-band, HEDGE (GSM/GPRS/EDGE/ WCDMA and HSDPA) RF transceiver, the SEQ7400, which is based on Sequoia Communications’ patented FullSpectra™ architecture.

The SEQ7400 drives down the overall size and cost of WCDMA handsets. It has the industry’s highest level of integration and lowest calibration burden at the phone level. These innovations drive manufacturing costs down for 3G handsets, addressing the primary obstacle to mass adoption of 3G technologies by consumers.

“We had many qualified companies apply for this particular category this year, but only four demonstrated their ability to succeed despite significant business and competitive challenges,” said Kevin Carroll, executive director, AeA San Diego Council. “Sequoia Communications truly stands out as a company that will not only thrive in the wireless industry, but with a game-changing technology, will pave the way for future innovation.”
