Senior RF Applications Engineer
Job Description
Sequoia seeks an experienced “phone level” RF applications
engineer to provide lab testing and optimization of Sequoia RF
transceiver products.
This individual will be responsible for
- Identifying and solving integration issues.
- Design and analysis of board level RF circuits
- Measuring the reference board performance and analyzing the results.
- Creating and maintaining supporting documentation [Datasheets,
app. notes etc].
- Interfacing to the design team to explain board level issues.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in RF/Wireless applications and/or design.
- Experience with GSM/EDGE and WCDMA cellular standards.
- Experience with ATE usage and some Vee/Labview coding.
- Strong lab and board skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- BS or greater in electronic engineering
Desired skills
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Familiarity for ADS, Momentum and PCB design Tools.
- Strong skills in Vee coding for ATEs highly desirable.
- Good Technical writing ability.

RF/Analog Engineering Intern
A fabless start up company, funded by major VCs, developing highly
integrated, advanced RF ICs in San Diego is seeking a highly motivated
intern in the area of analog and RF IC design.
Key Responsibilities
The Engineering intern will be responsible to work with our senior
engineering staff in any of the following areas:
- Design of LNAs, Mixers, VGAs, VCOs, PLLs, and Oscillators.
- Design
of baseband and RF amplifiers, gain, or filtering circuits
- Simulating
IIP2 & 3 distortion, phase noise, gain, frequency
response etc.
- Calibration and Test Algorithms
Required Skills
- Interest in working in the area of semiconductors and wireless

- Experience in the following areas is required:
- Simulation in
Cadence or Mentor EDA software

Systems Engineer
A fabless start up company, funded by major VCs, developing highly integrated, advanced RF ICs in San Diego is seeking a highly motivated baseband systems engineer.
Organization:
Reporting into the systems engineering group
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture and algorithm development
- Performance analysis and trade studies
- Specification of system functionality to hardware and software domains
- Lab testing and integration of the final product
Required Experience
- Prefer at least 2 or more years of semiconductor design and/ or integration experience in WCDMA or GSM/EDGE/GPRS).
- Expertise in RF systems, communication systems and signal processing fundamentals
- Solid ability to evaluate, capture, and document tradeoffs and design descriptions
- Solid ability to test and debug RF or mixed signal devices
EDUCATION

Senior Product Engineer
A fabless start up company, funded by major VCs, developing highly
integrated, advanced RF ICs in San Diego is seeking a highly motivated
Product Engineer.
Organization:
Reporting into Product Engineering Group
Key Responsibilities
The Product Engineer will be responsible to:
- Work closely with the Reliability/Quality team to develop
reliability and quality requirements. Also work with the reliability
team and outside vendors in implementing the reliability and
quality measures, such as burning board design, test vector creation
etc.
- Drive failure analysis both in evaluation phase and production
phase in collaboration with the reliability and design teams
- Drive
packaging related activities. Such as interface with assembly
houses, create bonding diagram, design substrate, ..ect.
- Collaborate
on the Production Test Plan, production ATE to bench data correlation
plan, and production test limit creation.
- Interface with foundry
and test house to develop wafer probe solutions, and monitor
production yield.
- Analyze test data and monitor production yield
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of RF package issues, package requirements
and trade-offs
- Understanding of quality and reliability requirements,
tests and procedures
- Understanding of ESD and latch-up and
other electrical, mechanical and thermal failures
- Understanding
of RF parameters
- Strong data analysis capability
- Excellent documentation skills

Key Responsibilities
The Senior Test and Product Engineer will be responsible to:
- Improve the bench characterization and ATE practice, including the necessary documentation
- Work with and maintain the equipment and software for the bench characterization and plan for future needs
- Drive the process for creating and documenting Design Verification and Characterization & Test Procedures and Plans in collaboration with the design, applications, and production test teams
- Collaborate on the Production Test Plan, interface with the test and assembly partners
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of RF and analog at the IC, board and system levels
- Strong understanding of RF test and measurement
- Strong understanding of production test requirements for RF and mixed signal parts
- Understanding of RF package issues, package requirements and trade-offs
- Excellent documentation skills and process orientation
Required Experience
- RF or power amplifier IC background
- Hands on experience in developing test programs for wireless applications
- Experience with RF bench characterization equipment and ATE
- Programming in HP Vee or NI Lab View.
- Exposure to RF layout and board design
- Experience in dealing with RF test equipment vendors and in maintaining the test lab

Mixed Signal Design Engineer

Sequoia seeks an experienced mixed signal analog design engineer to develop circuit blocks for receiver RF integrated circuits.
This individual will be responsible for:
- Design of Analog to Digital and Digital to Analog Converter Circuits
- Design of baseband digital/analog filters.
- Providing production ready circuits, careful corner analysis & Monte Carlo.
- Familiar with precise analog layout theory & layout experience.
- Capable of making power, die area, and performance trade offs.
- Calibration and Test Algorithms
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of design experience in IC design
- Strong design background in Analog circuits
- BS or greater in EE with emphasis in RF-related design fields
Desired Experience
- Design experience with D/A and A/D circuits
- Design of sigma delta converters in CMOS processes
- Experience in cellular systems (WCDMA, CDMA, or GSM) is desired
- Experience in design, test, reliability and production phases
Tool Knowledge Preferred
- Cadence Spectre, Spectre RF, schematic capture, and layout
- Familiar with Assura LVS & DRC.
